NZ Draft Energy Strategy - a charade
Submitted by oildepletionz on 2 September 2010 - 10:47pmI read the governments Draft Energy Strategy and discovered that apart from a bland statement that oil prices will rise and be volatile, it fails to identify the risks to New Zealand's energy security. There is no discussion in the DES about the threats to New Zealand of oil scarcity arising from global oil depletion and no analysis of the potentially devastating impacts on the New Zealand economy from scarcity and/or higher oil prices. Nor does it discuss how soon these threats might arise. For example could they occur within one year, five years, 10 years, or longer?

There are 2 more Sunday working bees before daylight saving returns. We will be watering and feeding the trees, weed eating the grass, sowing wildflower seed and getting our berry beds ready.
We would love to see you if you are able to help out on Sunday: 12th and/ or 26th September.
Bring tools if you have them – trowel, rake, fork…
Look forward to seeing you

In our local neighborhood in Los Angeles, for the third year running, we are hosting a group purchase of bare root fruit trees.

Adding to the ranks of Transition Towns
Submitted by sam@350.org.nz on 30 August 2010 - 11:00amHi,
I've just uploaded an event on 10/10/10 on behalf of 350 Aotearoa who I have links with.
I thought some others here would be interested to hear about the 10/10/10 Global Climate Working Bee which we'd love more people to get involved with. It urges people at grass roots, community level to get active on 10/10/10 - a great opportunity for Transition Towns groups around the country to organise an event, show their support for science, and recruit for the future.
