Introduction to Invercargill
Welcome to the Transition Town Invercargill!

Transition Town Invercargill would like for Invercargill and Southland to be a resilient, truly sustainable, vibrant community of happy and healthy people who will live in a way that will protect the environment and ultimately enhance the quality of human lives everywhere.
Our aim is to support a transition of Invercargill - and Southland - communities into a lower-energy, lower-emissions future. To achieve this we wish to work with any individual, group or organisation with similar aims.
We made our first 'public' appearance in March 2009 with a series of film evenings, followed by two discussion evenings. More recently, our winter/spring programme consiting of seven events, has been focused on practical skills useful in a lower-energy future. We have also written submissions to Invercargill and Environment Southland LTCCP 2009 - 2019, and to the NZ Government regarding the emissions reduction target. Click on the links below to see a list of our past events, notes and actions that arose from them.
