Mapua

Welcome to Mapua's transition town webpages!

Mapua has joined the growing number of communities throughout the world who are actively pursuing a more sustainable future. On our webpage we will be highlighting coming events, featuring our intiatives, providing an information sharing portal and asking for your input on what you would like to see happening in your community.

Steering Committee

The second meeting of the steering committee will be held at 9am on Thursday October 30th at the Naked Bun. If you are interested in being involved at an initial organising level then please feel free to come along and meet the group.

At present the steering committee includes:

Our first event

Transition Town Mapua's first event will be a film screening of The Power Of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil.

The film screening will be held at the Mapua Hall Supper Room on Thursday November 27th at 7:30 - 9:30 pm. The evening will begin with an introduction by Dr Ed Kiddle, Nelson Marlborough Medical Officer of Health.

Join us for a fascinating and inspiring evening. All are welcome. Gold coin donation would be appreciated.

What is your vision for Mapua?

What is your vision for Mapua? What resources does Mapua lack that it needs for a prosperous local economy that doesn't harm the planet? What actions could we take as a community that would help us become significantly more sustainable?
