Biogas and Anaerobic Digestion.

Biogas is the flammable gas given off from the Anaerobic Digestion process.
Biogas is useful as an energy source for the household and farm.
Anaerobic Digestion is a useful process to eliminate wastes and provide garden biomass.

The digester can be fed with kitchen scraps, grass clippings and even silage etc, so the popular notion that only manure is used is incorrect.
A large tank is not necessarily required either, as sometimes a plastic film tube is a far cheaper alternative.

We are endeavouring to set up a Special Interest Group of like minded people who would be interested in constructing and operating an Anaerobic Digestion plant in their ‘backyard'.

The intention is that the group would discuss with anyone their project, looking for better ideas, simplifications and cheaper alternatives.

If you or any of your friends and acquaintances have any notion of a biogas project parked in the back of their mind, or perhaps an existing energy project that biogas could support (eg heating of a still), then we would be pleased to welcome them into the special interest group.
