Our Food Group is starting to gather momentum.......

Current projects are

Fruit trees – fruit collection/redistribution project

A project to collect and re-distribute unwanted fruit where owner's of trees are unwilling or unable to pick it.

Our project is in it's infancy and we are still deciding exactly where and how the fruit and produce will be redistributed. There is also discussion around 'swapping' and liasing with local schools. We are finding there is huge enthusiasm in the community for this activity.

If you are interested in this activity please contact Ron Lopert rlopert@xtra.co.nz

Community Garden Project

This project has not been all plain sailing - with so many people in the area already having reasonable amounts of land, it is hard to establish where the most need is for a Community Garden. However.....................Merivale school are keen to work together with Transition Tauranga on a school/community garden project.

Anyone interested in being involved with this project (planning, advice, seeds, physical) please contact John Fletcher jandp06@hotmail.co.uk

Supporting People with Home Gardens

We are keen to help people establish home gardening projects and have several members who are willing to give time and energy to this. A number of ideas are being considered.

1. Connect people for exchange of expertise & activities

2. Assisting people to develop a garden from scratch

3. Running classes in Permaculture and it's application.

4. Providing services from Garden Mentors.

5. Creating a list of resources to help people with gardening projects.
