Climate Camp film screening Monday 30th November

30 Nov 2009 20:00

Kia ora,

The first ever Camp for Climate Action Aotearoa is happening from the 16th-21st December in the Wellington Region.

The Camp seeks to address the real causes of climate change and build a people's movement that can and will make a difference.

You are warmly invited to attend a film screening this coming
Monday 30th November, 8pm, at the Newtown Community Centre
. The films draw inspiration from recent camps in the UK and Australia.

The first Climate Camp was held in Yorkshire in 2006. This year, there will be twenty around the world. The camps interweave four strands:

  • sustainable living - we operate as a mini eco-village for the duration, using consensus decision making
  • education - heaps of free workshops from community gardening to direct action
  • movement building - networking and discussions to plan for the future
  • direct action - the camp culminates in a day of action

We look forward to seeing you there. Please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested.
