TRANSITION TOWN TAURANGA

We have now been going for more than one year!

Our monthly meetings on the last Thursday of the month at the Environment Centre continue to be a focus for new members and old. Last meeting’s Tauranga - Vision 2030 produced some interesting & visionary ideas of how our community might look in the future.

COLLECTION & REDISTRIBUTION OF UNWANTED FRUIT

This group has been very active during the fruit harvesting season, providing a much needed source of fresh fruit for organisations such as The Food Bank.

MOUNT INTERMEDIATE EDIBLE GARDEN

Regan and Noel have planted a large number of fruit trees at Mount Intermediate.

LETS GET GROWING COMMUNITY GARDEN

The recent Backyard Bounty event at the site of the Otumoetai Community Garden served to introduce this fantastic location to the local community and interested members of the public. Plans are well under way for the construction of raised garden beds and the community learning programme.

‘SUSTAINABLE HOUSING COMMUNITY’ PROJECT

A number of interested people joined the informal discussion on a ‘sustainable housing community’ recently. Further meeting and planning will be held on a regular basis. If you are interested in a being part of a sustainable housing community please contact Ron or Maureen on 5481996.

OFF THE GRID

A new project aimed at homeowners who want to get off the grid or partly off the grid. This project will be launched at the next TTT meeting on Thur. 29th April.
