TTM Education Series proposal

TTM Education Series

Objectives

·         Deepen knowledge of TT issues

·         Attract more people to TT efforts

·         Familiarize people with TT processes eg high participation and self-organization

Process

·         Monthly symposia or workshops. (Frequency to be sustainable over possibly years and could increase with more person-power. Could transmute to a high school or college course on sustainable settlements with practical component.

·         Work where possible with partners eg high school, U3A, eventual Atamai or Riverside Permaculture courses.

·         Have people identify their own learning needs

·         Facilitate participant interaction, issuing when relevant in practical implementation of knowledge

·         Use films, live speakers, Skype projections of distant speakers. Work with Nelson to share visiting speakers. Use our local knowledge resources when possible, as first priority.

·         Use same evening and venue when possible. Wed. evenings seemed to suit most people in relation to planning meetings. Suggest Wed. evenings for monthly seminars too, unless a day programme or land-based workshop is planned.

Content suggestions

·         Local Currencies (or related topic) – Christoph Hensch,  ? Sat.  in  Nov., ?all day.

Outreach events

Some of these  potential events ,which have partly self-organized, are somewhat specialized, likely attracting particular sectors of the TT people. We need to think about a more general educational event  before too long. ‘What’s happening to our money?’ could be such an event. Suggest a November event of this kind.
