How to post news

To add an item of news to this list: Go here, then -- Give it a meaningful and helpful Title -- List some Tags (type 'news' into the tags field. You can use other tags too, just seperate them with a comma, but at least 'news' needs to be in there. -- Type or paste your story into the Body of the content page -- Save it using the button at the bottom of the page.
Note: News that is related to a region can be posted using 'create content' then 'local news', and then choosing the region that it relates to.

Flannery is well known as a champion of biological soil management as a means of successfully sequestering carbon.

400 people from throughout the South marched through Invercargill on a cold but beautiful winter day on Saturday, 26 June, opposing the Government’s plans to allow mining in some of New Zealand’s most valuable conservation land.
The march was organised to show the Government that people in the South, traditionally seen as supportive of National Party, strongly opposed the Government’s proposal to mine some of the country’s most precious public land, said Dave Kennedy, spokesperson for the march.

"The fundamental disturbing conclusion of the report is that there is little likelihood that either conventional fossil fuels or alternative energy sources can reliably be counted on to provide the amount and quality of energy that will be needed to sustain economic growth—or even current levels of economic activity—during the remainder of the current century. This preliminary conclusion in turn suggests that a sensible transition energy plan will have to emphasize energy conservation above all. It also raises questions about the sustainability of growth per se, both in terms of human population numbers and economic activity."
