Summary of Transition Nelson June 09 Survey

The results of the survey clearly show the Transition Town model significantly raises people's awareness and motivates them action. See below for summary.   

As a result of their involvement with Transition Nelson;

79% said their knowledge on climate change had improved

76% said their knowledge on peak oil had improved

83% said their knowledge on things they can personally do to reduce their carbon footprint or dependence on fossil fuels has improved » Read more

Nelson 2020 Government Meeting

Government public meeting on New Zealand's 2020 greenhouse gas emission target. In early August the NZ government plans to announce at the global climate change negotiations in Bonn its greenhouse gas emissions reduction target for 2020. Prior to this the government is seeking input from the public and businesses on how much the nation should reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 to mitigate the effects of global warming. Come along to the government’s Nelson public meeting and have your say on what target they should choose.

3 hour workshop open to everyone in Transition Nelson to work on the Transition Nelson Action Plan. The focus of the workshop will be to agree on draft targets, decide what are the key actions that will help achieve those targets and then prioritising those actions. Sunday the 5th of April from 1-4pm at the District Health Board (DHB) Seminar Centre, Braemar Campus, Waimea Road, opposite the Main Hospital.
